Juquei is a small beach resort town about 42 miles from Santos, which is the seaport of Sao Paolo. It is typical of the entire coast. The plateau that follows the coast sends fingers of ridge down to the sea. They act as arms extending out into the sea, cradling lovely beaches in their hold. I went there with the Tygels--Martin, Clarice, and their twins, Milton and Gabriel-- on the weekend of September 17. Our hotel was nestled against one of the arms of mountain ridge reaching out to the sea. I had a lovely room with a grand view of the beach, looking east up the coast towards Rio.
