We have since moved on to a C2000Z and a C2500L. The former is a rangefinder camera, very compact, good for bikerides, traveling light, touring in cities where one does not want to walk around with a big camera in view, and more versatile than the D600. The latter is the next step up from the D600, SLR, with even more features than the C2000. Wall of China was taken with the C2000Z.
The 2000 went to Brazil with me in Fall, 99. It proved to be a wonderful travel camera. The 1999 Newsletter includes photos from Brazil taken digitally and photos from China that were scanned from traditional color prints.
I have found that the contrast varies with the monitor and browser. For example, it is higher on my Unix/Netscape browser than on my DOS/Windows/Netscape browser, both laptop and PC versoins. Shadows are open in the latter, nearly black in the former.
