The main focus of my research program is on anisotropic parameter estimation and imaging using 3D multicomponent (primarily PP and PS) reflection data, as well as on seismic fracture characterization.

Among the projects I am currently pursuing with my research group (the Anisotropy-Team) are:

• Joint moveout inversion of PP and PS reflection data in anisotropic media (with Pawan Dewangan).
• Velocity-independent layer stripping of PP and PS reflection traveltimes
  (with Pawan Dewangan and Jyoti Behura).
• Nonhyperbolic moveout inversion of wide-azimuth P-wave data (with Ivan Vasconcelos).
• Analytic description of attenuation coefficients in transversely isotropic (TI) and orthorhombic media (with Yaping Zhu).
• Physical modeling and inversion of attenuation anisotropy (with Yaping Zhu).
• Analysis of point-source radiation in attenuative anisotropic media (with Yaping Zhu).
• Moveout-based geometrical-spreading correction for PP- and PS-wave in azimuthally anisotropic media (with Xiaoxia Xu).
• P-wave azimuthal AVO analysis at Rulison field, Colorado (with Xiaoxia Xu).
• Analysis of the small-angle PS-wave AVO response for tilted TI media (with Jyoti Behura).
• Seismic characterization of microcorrugated fracture sets (with Rodrigo Felicio Fuck).
• Anisotropic critical-angle reflectometry (with visiting scientist Martin Landro).
• Description of evanescent waves in anisotropic media and application of nongeometrical/evanescent modes in parameter estimation.
