The internship at BP, with the Advanced Seismic Imaging team in summer 2006, involved inverting for density from seismic reflection amplitudes. Jyoti is a recipient of the SEG scholarship and the ConocoPhillips Spirit scholarship. During his stay at IIT Kharagpur, he received a silver medal, the Bhattacharya Award, and the Ghosh Award. His current research interests include wave propagation in anisotropic attenuative media, seismic interferometry, and rock physics of unconventional resources like heavy oils and oil shales. On weekdays, Jyoti hits table tennis or lawn tennis balls; on weekends, he hits the ski slopes of Colorado. He proudly claims that learning to swim has been his biggest achievement of this past summer.
